Summer Wedding at Stanlake Park Wine Estate, Berkshire

As a Cambridge wedding photographer, I get to photograph weddings all over the UK, and every now and then I arrive at a venue that completely takes me by surprise. Stanlake Park Wine Estate was one of those places. There are some venues that stop you in your tracks the moment you arrive, and Stanlake Park Wine Estate is definitely one of them.

Tucked away in the Berkshire countryside, it's the kind of place that makes you forget you're in England. The vineyards, beautiful stone buildings and Mediterranean feel make it look like something straight out of Italy. On a warm summer's day, it really does transport you somewhere else.

It was the perfect setting for Holly and Alan to celebrate with their family and friends, and it was an absolute pleasure to document the day.

A Relaxed Ceremony Full of Emotion


The day began with a beautiful ceremony surrounded by the people who mean the most to Holly and Alan. There was such a lovely atmosphere from the very beginning, filled with excitement, smiles and a few emotional moments as they exchanged their vows.

One of the things I loved most about the day was how relaxed it all felt. There wasn't any pressure to stick to a rigid schedule. Everyone simply enjoyed being together, and that always makes for the best photographs.

A Wedding Venue That Feels Like Italy


It's easy to see why so many couples fall in love with Stanlake Park Wine Estate.

From the vineyard and historic winery buildings to the peaceful courtyards, every part of the venue has its own character. Walking around with Holly and Alan, it genuinely felt more like we were photographing a destination wedding in Tuscany than a wedding in Berkshire.

Everywhere you turn, there's another incredible backdrop, making it a dream venue for natural wedding photography.

Taking Ten Minutes Away From the Party


One thing I always tell my couples is that creating beautiful portraits doesn't mean disappearing from your wedding for an hour.

Holly and Alan slipped away with me for around ten minutes, just long enough to explore a few of the vineyard paths and make the most of the incredible surroundings. It gave them a chance to pause, take everything in and spend a few quiet moments together before heading straight back to celebrate with their guests.

Those short portrait sessions are often some of my favourite parts of the day. Nothing feels forced, and because we're never away for long, couples don't feel like they've missed a thing.

Making the Most of the Evening Light


As the day began to slow down, the evening light transformed the whole estate.

The warm sun spilling across the vineyard and stone buildings created the most beautiful backdrop for a final set of photographs. Golden hour only lasts a short while, so we made the most of it before Holly and Alan headed straight back to the dance floor.

I always encourage couples to sneak out for ten minutes if the light is right. It doesn't take long, but the difference it can make to your photographs is incredible. Soft, warm light adds so much atmosphere and creates some of the most timeless images of the entire day.

A Day That Felt Effortless


What made Holly and Alan's wedding so memorable wasn't just the incredible venue or the beautiful weather. It was how present they were throughout the day.

They spent time with the people they love, laughed constantly and embraced every moment as it happened. That's exactly how weddings should be.

Days like this are why I love documentary wedding photography. Rather than directing every moment, I simply tell the story as it unfolds, capturing the real moments that you'll look back on for years to come.
